Ammar ibn Yasar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “O Allah, by your knowledge of the Unseen and your power over the creation, give me life as long as you know life is good for me and take me away if you know passing is better for me. O Allah, I ask you for fear of you in the Unseen and the seen. I ask you for truthful words in times of pleasure and anger. I ask you for moderation in times of poverty and wealth. I ask you for a blessing that will never expire. I ask you for comfort that will never end. I ask you for satisfaction after the decree of providence. I ask you for a soothing existence after death. I ask you for the sweetness of looking upon your face and longing to meet you without enduring a harmful calamity nor a misguiding trial. O Allah, adorn us with the beauty of faith and make us guides to guide others.”
